Precautions:

High dose, prolonged use; severe hepatic, renal impairment; analgesic intolerance; asthma; lactation, children < 12 yrs

Adverse Reactions:

Hepatotoxicity (high dose); anorexia; drowsiness, dizziness; depression; sweating; respiratory difficulty incl bronchospasm; decr BP; GI upset incl constipation; pancreatitis; dry mouth; skin reactions incl rash, thrombocytopenic purpura; haematological effects; hypersensitivity incl angioedema

Interactions:

CNS depressants incl alcohol, sedatives, tranquillizers; antiepileptics incl barbiturates, phenytoin, carbamazepine; rifampicin; coumarin derivatives incl warfarin; chloramphenicol; zidovudine; drugs affecting gastric emptying eg propantheline, metoclopramide

Dose:

Adults, children greater than or equal to 12 yrs: 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hrs as nec; max 8 tabs/24 hrs
